Beautiful Vistas & Ominous Rumblings!
Not only is this arguably one of the most GORGEOUS pages to ever grace blotter – which in and of itself is reason enough to celebrate and give Smilton a big’ol pat on the back – but it is also the 100th COMIC PAGE update!!
No matter how you slice it that is a pretty significant milestone. If you had asked me, WAY back when we launched the Deep Dive Daredevils, if we would ever make it to 100 pages I honestly think I would have said no. I mean, we’ve always had grand plans and ambitions for The Daredevils, but there was just no way to predict the wonderful creative partnerships we have forged, not to mention the legion of dedicated readers we’ve welcomed aboard along he way.
So, I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Danilo Guida, Steven Finch, and Smilton Roa Klaassen for literally bringing our dreams to life. And, to anyone who’s ever read even a single DDD page, thank you for sharing in our dreams. Together, you’ve sustained and inspired Dan, Evin, and I more than I can properly express.
Raise your glasses, Daredevilers. Here’s to another 100 pages and beyond!
Be here NEXT WEEK for the 101st page, as the FALLOUT from the tragic events of Pitch Black Day continues to unfold. Also, what was McGinty’s connection to this Pacific Island PARADISE? Find out in just 7 days!
COOL STUFF ALERT: In an effort to bolster the ranks of Daredevilers who’ve signed up for the MAILING LIST (find it at the top of the left sidebar underneath the radio tower), from here on out on FRIDAYS we will send out some manner of EXCLUSIVE content to subscribers. Stuff like – pages in progress, completed pages before they hit the blotter, never before seen artwork, script pages, and sneak peeks at what is to come in our upcoming HUGE ANNOUCEMENT! So, what are you waiting for…SIGN UP NOW!
Welp, no new Sunday Bonus Lunch this week. FYI, Evin’s blog updates may be a bit more spotty than usual in the coming weeks, as he is hard at work on some SUPER-SECRET stuff. Trust me it will be worth it…
Anyways, till next week!
-Matt-
Beautiful Vistas & Ominous Rumblings!
For the first time I cannot add anything else to your own comment on the new page.
Regarding EXCLUSIVE content to subscribers, I’m very much interested in seeing some of the scripts. Lady Sabre puts the script beneath the comic, and it’s always fascinating to see how words come alive, how the imagination of the writer and the artist interact. Getting the same kind of background information about DDD would be wonderful.
Regarding the upcoming HUGE ANNOUCEMENT!, I’ll shoot again for the NO PRIZE and predict that it will involve some rather more tangible evidence for the DDD’s boldness and grace under fire.
Timothy speechless? Why I never….
On the EXCLUSIVES – As I said, script pages will definitely be in the mix. Cool to know there will be peeps out there looking forward to stuff like that.
On the HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT – I can neither confirm or deny…definitely can’t deny.
Where to begin?
- Nice imagery, I am inclined to think of ancient pyramids, and the Tower of Bable.
- “Is that really you, Custor?” Hmmm!?
- Are those little dots, just above the arrow people? If so that is one big [censored] symbol.
- Where were all the other losses aboard the Custor buried? My guess would be as sea. I understand McGinty died most heroically, and saved many people, but they also paid a great price for their bravery.
- Will we ever get to see the Chaplin again (I think he is my new favorite character)?
Keep up the good work!!!!!
Lots of nteresting stuff indeed on this page, T. Gatto.
To answer a few of your questions…
In Doc’s final report on Pitch Black Day he mentions that The Custer embarked on a “grim world tour” to return the bodies of fallen crewman to their friends and family with the last stop being McGinty’s chosen resting place on Fajro Kajpereo. So, I’m sure The Daredevils attended a lot of funerals along the way, off panel.
On the Chaplain – He has already made a return appearance on Page 1, panel 2 of End(s) of the Earth(s), and -SPOILER ALERT – you will see him again next week on page 3. Glad he made an impression on you…we like him a lot too, so rest assured he will be a permanent member of the crew.
The Chaplain is awesome. I would, however, be terrified to go to confession with him.
Now, this IS a Splash Page!!!!
(Grande, Smilton!)
Thanks, Danilo!
That is high praise indeed coming from you, my friend.
Congrats on 100 pages! Beautiful page, too! -v
Thanks, Vince.
We’re pretty darn proud to have made it this far with no sign of stopping anywhere on the horizon.
wow, 100 pages already?! Congratulations and here’s to 100 more! cheers!
Thanks, lutzad!
“101st page, as the FALLOUT”- I see what you did there.
Heh, I doubt Matt intended it, or gets the reference, but it is quite funny
Welcome aboard, Bwolfeman!
Yep, Dan’s right, any reference there on my part was completely unintentional.
OK, I looked up those coordinates, and either they found part of Atlantis, or they really missed Midway…
We prefer to think of it as an uncharted, exotic location.
Fantastic story and art! I truly enjoyed the last episode with Dracula and looking forward to this amazing new tale.
