End(s) of the Earth(s) is HERE!
Buuuut, before we get into all that I would like to <-------- point once again to our brand spankin' new DDD mailing list at the top of left side bar. You literally can't miss it. It's right underneath the obnoxious blinking radio tower thingy. Anyway, I'm mentioning it again (and again and again probably) because MASSIVELY cool news about the Deep Dive Daredevils is COMING SOON and we want to be able to communicate with YOU directly about the aforementioned cool stuff. I solemnly swear that we will never EVER spam your inbox or send you frivolous, B.S. emails.
Now, I understand that sometimes solemn promises and teases of cool stuff are just not enough to get some people to pull the trigger, so I am going to try some BRIBERY...If you sign up for the mailing list by Friday, July 11th at 12:00PM MST we will send you a link to the 1st page of End(s) of the Earth(s) before it hits the blotter!
That's right, YOU will get the FIRST PAGE of the NEW STORY sent directly to your INBOX ahead of it's official publication if you SIGN UP for the MAILING LIST RIGHT NOW!!!
With that is out of the way - the cover to End(s) of the Earth(s) is pretty darn cool, right? Once again, we have Evin to thank for an inspired Saul Bass inspired cover (see what I did there?). I like these because they give you the flavor of what's to come in such a simple, evocative image...
So, what does the image say to you? Make your guesses about the direction of the new story NOW in the comments. It'll be fun to look back and see how close or how far off the mark the predictions end up. And, be here NEXT WEEK for the first taste of what's to come when Page 1 of End(s) of the Earth(s) debuts (unless you've already read it *wink wink*). 'NUFF SAID!
And, oh yeah, there is no new Sunday Bonus Lunch this week. CHEER Evin for the cover, but make sure to throw a few BOOs his way, as well, for his flagrant dereliction of duty.
Anyways, till next week!
-Matt-
The picture reminds me of a volcano with lots of activity.
And since volcanoes have the power to darken and cool down the earth, I predict that this story will simply be a rehash of Pitch Black Day, with an ash-spouting volcano instead of a dust-spreading rocket. Way to go, Daredevils!
And yes, I’m shooting for the NO NO NO PRIZE today.
That said, at beginning of the Firefly episode War Stories there’s that discussion about how you need to hold somebody over a volcano if you want to get to know the true man …
Yes, all of our stories from now on will be in some way relates to blocking out the sun.
But seriously, you might be onto something with your allusion to Firefly…
Another story that comes to my mind right now is PotC – On Stranger Tides. IMO the privateers, not pirates meme fits the DDDs.
This is a very comforting thought, given that I was a little concerned about going back to ancient indigenous mythology.
Because I remember how much fun I had with that movie, even though I’d prefer my pirates plain. In general, I’m not into mermaids, but those mermaids were absolutely fantastic, especially when they turned …
Back on topic, I’m once again thrilled with anticipation. I cannot foretell if there will be mermaids, but maybe sultry island maiden will play a somewhat similar role?
I’ve never seen On Stranger Tides…
However, it is funny that you mention mermaids…not for this story, mind you, but it is funny, indeed.
You are hereby requested and required, immediately upon receipt of this order, to proceed towards the most convenient of the places available, as per margin, that provide access to that movie, search for and give chase to the vessel of your ignorance, and take, sink, burn or destroy the aforementioned vessel …
Seriously, you need to learn how to make a mermaid cry (hint: torture isn’t the answer!), and why you should – in advance, because there will be no time when suddenly the need arises – practice screaming in terror when preparing for that particular quest.
“To the ends of the Earth”; whoopee! Sorry, “Aladdin” flashback.
*sings* A whole new world…don’t you dare close your eyes.
Roger that, Cap’n Crunch.
I may be crusty, I’ll give you that.
But, don’t ever call me crunchy, Sailor!
Earths possessive or Earths plural? Going to be awesome either way! of that, with this crew, I have no doubt!
Thanks, Nate! Can’t wait for you guys to see what we have in store…
Are Barry Allen and Kara Zoe-El gonna Die in this story?
I keep thinking about D.C.’s Crisis on Infinite Earths…
Jeez Louise! We already killed McGinty and now you want us to off The Flash and Supergirl too?
Must be some leftover bloodlust after a year’s worth of pages about Dracula.
Please re-review your posted Christmas Art, then tell me I’m the one who has Bloodlust issues…
Touché.
