And now back to your regularly scheduled programming…
So, we’re back and the situation on the Custer is grim. Men have died, friends are missing, and the Fish-Vampires are running amok on board. The Deep Dive Daredevils have been dropped in the middle of a house of horrors, and they aren’t going make it out unscathed. This is their darkest hour and this page makes that plainly, painfully clear.
Speaking of the page, isn’t it FANTASTIC to have Danilo Guida’s art back on the blotter? Not to say the stuff we’ve been doing the last month-or-so hasn’t been a blast, but it feels good to have Danilo’s brilliant pages back where they belong. So, hold on tight because Danilo is once again set to deliver eye-melting images for eight straight weeks, as Chapter Two barrels to an absolutely STAGGERING conclusion!
And, oh yeah, who’s that dude with the crucifix and the sword on his back? Think he might be important?
Find out NEXT WEEK as all the TURMOIL following the Fish-Vampire attack boils over! Can the Daredevils come together in the wake of tragedy or will their grievous losses lead to a BREAK in the ranks? All that and more is just 7 days away! Make sure to RSS, Like, or Follow so you don’t miss out on a MELTDOWN of epic proportions.
In other news, the boys and I just got back from another wild and crazy trip to the San Diego Comicon, and thanks to the Pop Culture Hound podcast you can join in on the fun! Chris Thompson was kind enough, yet again, to sit down Dan, Evin, and I for a lengthy, of-the-cuff interview over a veritable PLETHORA of drinks. Catching up with Chris was a blast, and we go into detail on all of last year’s a happenings, and spill some pretty big beans about the future of the Deep Dive Daredevils, as well. So, if you missed out on partying with the ThreeOneFive at Comicon (which pretty much everyone on the planet other than Chris did), this is your chance to hear what you’ve been missing. Click HERE for rambling, drunken comic talk!
Welp, that about wraps it up for this week. But first, mosey on over to the Sunday Bonus Lunch for a behind-the-scenes look at how last week’s crossover cover with Rich Clabaugh’s Graveyard Gang came together.
Anyways, till next week!

Whoa….I think S*** just got real and for the briefest of moments, I feel a little bad for the vamps and the butt-kicking that’s about to come from the guy with the blade.
I might add, I half expect the guy with the sword to utter something along the lines of “I…Kick ass for the lord!”
Dead Alive is one of the seminal movies from my youth…
Great reference, TKG!
I’m starting to think Miss Singer is not the only butt kicking Vampire hunter on the boat.
What is in the pommel stone of that sword?
I don’t think it’s a stone, looks more like a family crest or coat of arms engraved on the pommel.
Too small to see in this panel, could be three hearts and three lions, but if it’s THAT sword, it should also have engraved on the blade “My name is Cortana, of the same steel and temper as Joyeuse and Durendal.”
Well, I don´t think we´ll get the chance to see it closelly, and I don´t think it would be a spoiler if I told you… (in fact I included that badge without asking the threeonefive, he,he…)
It has the badge of the Templar Knights: two knights shearing a horse, because of their poverty vows. Actually their whole name was The Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon.
I thought it was a nice detail to add to this character you´re about to know.
And, this is how a wonderful collaborator like Danilo makes a comic infinitely richer than you ever conceived it to be on your own!
I can’t say how awesome it is to be surprised by a reference like this! Kudos, Danilo!
Also, there might just be a chance to see the pommel up close in a scene from Chapter Three, which I haven’t told you about yet. HA!
AWESOME!
I thought, from first glance, that it was some kind of relic encased in the pommel, but the sword of a surviving son of the Templars (which is now my guess) works just fine for me.
As always, thanks for making Tuedays more fun!
THANK YOU for reading and sharing your thoughts every Tuesday, T. Gatto!
One thing about the Deep Dive Daredevils is they are not afraid to go in and clean up somebody else’s mess. Love that last panel, talk about being prepared for anything.
Danilo’s work is always fantastic, so is the rest of y’alls crew. Y’all have a fantastic group there at the ThreeOneFive, always turning out amazing stuff.
Thanks for the kind words, Todd, and your continued support!
Stay tuned for next week where you’ll get to know the Daredevils’s mysterious swordsman…
I’m catching up on the current run, and just got to this (and the next) page. I admit, I squee’d with delight over seeing the introduction of Fr. O’Flaherty!
I do wanna share my concerns, tho’, in relation to his character (and I hope they’re unfounded!): I hope that he hasn’t been brought in as an apparent vampire-fighting dude if his only means of dealing with them is simply by lopping off their heads. If he’s a priest — a *cleric* — going up against the supernatural undead, he should be able to take ‘em on through his priestly abilities. Because what’d be the point introducing a specifically Catholic priest in a vampire story if he can’t do anything different than laypeople?
If it’s later revealed that it’s somehow possible to save those turned to vampirism, I’ll be especially disappointed if he’s also presented more as a “lop all the vampire headz!” and not as a man of God distraught over the loss of life and souls, because a priest’s primary concern is the salvation of souls.
One more small thing: It’d have been so awesome if the Rosary drawn around Father’s hand looked like a actual Rosary, and not a beaded necklace with a cross attached; real Rosaries don’t look like that. I know, it’s picky, but with the absolutely marvelous attention to detail shown throughout this whole, wonderfully well-done comic, it was just a tad disappointing to see it drawn so inaccurately.
All that said, I do love your comic and happily look forward to future installments. Off to resume catching up on the last few pages!
Thanks for sharing your talent with us! You guys rock! \m/
Hey Lisa – Great, great comment!
I am happy to report that there is much more to come for Father O’Flaherty, and none of it has anything to do with lopping heads There is also much more to the Father than has been revealed (or guessed at), so far.
He’s a part of the cast going forward and as this is a pulp adventure series we will probably see him doing actiony things most of the time. However, we’ll also see O’Flaherty doing all of his duties as the Custer’s Chaplain, big and small. So, stay tuned…
Anyway, I’m glad you are enjoying the comic, and thanks for your kind words. Make sure to let us know what you think going forward!
Oh, hey, I’m TOTALLY cool with Father doing actiony things a great deal o’ the time — I’d expect that in an adventure series. Just as long as that’s not the only thing he does, which you said won’t be the case.
Seriously, I do love what y’all are doing with this kick-arse series. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have bothered to share my small concerns, which you’ve graciously taken the time to respond to. I appreciate it! <3
