Yeah, nice work, kid.
More than any before it, this page really illustrates the range of Joe’s character and why he is just such a pleasure to write. In the span of seven panels, he goes from goofy kid to noble hero, and it is a totally natural (in character) transition. I love it! I know it may seem weird to be talking about one of our own characters like this, but it is just so refreshing to write a character like Joe – to be able to escape the ever-so-cynical outside world and live inside the head of character who does the right thing, simply because it is the right thing to do.
Hopefully you have as much affection for the kid as I do because as we move into the EPIC finale of Chapter 3 and the MIND-BENDING kick-off to Chapter 4 Joe will be taking center stage!
Be here NEXT WEEK for the final page of Chapter 3, which will literally leave you HANGING OFF the EDGE of YOUR SEAT! Oh, Dear Reader, if you think you’ve got it all figured out, I humbly submit that you, in fact, do not! Make sure to RSS, Like, or Follow because missing next week’s finale would be most regrettable, indeed.
Before I let you go, a little house keeping is in order. As I mentioned, Chapter 3 ends next week. The following Tuesday, September 18th, will be a break week, but fear not, in place of page there will be an ALL-NEW Deep Dive Daredevils pin-up! And, then on September 25th the 4th and final chapter of Secret of the Beaufort Sea begins and nothing will ever be the same again!
Also, the third and final part of our naughty adventure strip, BABY GIRL, will be available in comic shops everywhere TOMORROW in the back of Image Comics’ HELL YEAH #5!
As always, please vote early and often at topwebcomics.com, and to get your weekly dose of crazy visit our blog and inject the Sunday Bonus Lunch directly into your eyeballs.
Anyways, till next week!

“WALK AWAY NOW… AND I WILL ALLOW YOU AND YOUR BREATHREN TO LEAVE IN PEACE.”
A- Ok, OK. Sorry Cap. I tried, but I got nothing. Needs of the Many outweight needs of the Few and all that…
B- “WALK AWAY” Dumb@$$ I’m stuck in the belly of a whale, how exactly do you propose I “WALK” anywhere?
C- NO. I promised to help him.
C for the win! I guess that’s why he’s in a Serial Adventure Series, and I’m typing away at my desk on a coffee break, and waiting for the weekend.
Great comment, T. Gatto.
You’re a hero in my book for returning every week, reading, and interacting!
Thanks, man.
It really makes you wonder what armstrong did to get this… Maybe he pulled a poultergeist and desecrated a burial ground or something?
Keep your eyes peeled for Chapter 4, where we will answer this very question!
Hey Captain, I’m planning on building a model of the Custer and I was wondering if there were any non-classified drawings of the stern section and drives I might use for reference. Up forward she looks like a pretty typical late war GATO class. I was planning to use Revell’s USS Lionfish as a base from which to start. Any chance of some help?
Well, son, I have to admit I’m mighty flattered, and think this sounds like a fine idea!
You’re definitely on the right track with your observations of the boat, and I will be sending you the reference material you requested for the stern section and the drives via private communique*.
Make sure to keep me up-to-date on your progress. That’s and order!

A model of the Custer?
COOL!
Joe, I admire you. You’re a real Promise Keeper.
That’s worth Respect. RESPECT.
Word.
Gosh, well thanks, Steven!
I’m just doin’ what’s right, is all. No biggie.
Yes, we like Joe. He was just adorable in page 333 and then again 338. However you need to become more consistent in how you draw his face; he looks like several different people. That is a defect found in a lot of comics, so I assume it must be genuinely difficult to get right, but the defect *is* there. Thanks again for an excellent comic so far.
With any organic, hand drawn art there will be slight inconsistencies. Some may consider this a defect, but instead we consider our pages each a success on their own merits. In my opinion, Danilo’s art is GREAT and gets better every week.
I’m glad you’re enjoying the comic!
