The GOOD NEWS is McGinty and Vampire Deveraux survived the Custer’s torpedo attack on Dracula’s submarine. Hooray! McGinty’s alive! You just knew it would take more than a little ol’ explosion to snuff that brute of a Scotsman.
But on the other hand…
The BAD NEWS is The Pitch Black Day Rocket survived, as well, and is streaking into the sky just moments away from delivering its sinister payload. The world teeters on the cusp of APOCALYPSE, and all that stands between it and eternal darkness is McGinty, hanging on for dear life.
Yep yep YEP…this is all adding up to a conclusion that simply Can. Not. Be. Missed. The 5th and FINAL Chapter of Pitch Black Day is right around the corner and consists of the most ambitious, action-packed, and emotional pages of the entire run! Everything we’ve been building for nearly a year comes to a head, and mark my words, once all is said and done the Deep Dive Daredevils will NEVER be the same. Trust me, you’ll see soon enough that this is not hyperbole…

This one is for all the folks scratching their heads during Chapter 4, wondering how Abigail Singer could possibly be the granddaughter of Arthur Holmwood? Well now that is most certainly not what was expected. I figured the first Scottish engineer got into space on a shuttle or something.
You should know by now, tkg, one Deep Dive Daredevil or another accounts for a whole mess of notable firsts from the 1930s to Present, which were blatantly ignored by the history books.
Uh-oh; this does not look good for our heroes.
But hey, way to go McGinty! I just hope he’s still got a screwdriver handy. 
Yeah, nice hands, McGinty…dude grabbed on to a speeding rocket and held on with just one hand!
He missed his calling as an NFL receiver, apparently.

Crivens! McGinty is a Nac Mac Feegle?
Nac Mac Feegle – must admit I had to google it to understand the reference. Never read the Discworld stories before, but now I am definitely interested.
However, McGinty’s penchant for exclaiming “Crivens” is actually a reference to a Scottish comic strip dating from the 1930s called, Oor Wullie. Wullie’s catch phrases include, “Jings”, “Crivens”, “Braw” and “Help ma Boab”. All of which McGinty has uttered at least once throughout the run, but none more often than “Crivens”.

The more serious the books get the funnier they get. They seamlessly travel from Slapstick humor, to action adventure, to SciFy/Fantasy, to Romantic Comedy, and back within the same chapter, while still leaving room for Teatime.
Just one notable statistic that proclaims their greatness is that fact that they are one of the most shoplifted series of books ever. This speaks volumes both for the books greatness, and the character of those of us who read them…

You’re right, The ThreeOneFive has never met a an easy, happy ending that we liked, and we never will. Putting characters through ringer is what it is all about!
And, you best ration your nails or else you might run out because it’s gonna be three weeks before we let you off the proverbial hook.
