Conflict. Drama. Cliffhanger!
Those are the buzzwords that informed everything you see on this page. Let’s explore them, shall we?
The CONFLICT part is pretty self-explanatory, I think. We’ve got three sets of characters, with each duo set against each other along the human/vampire divide.
But, none of that conflict amounts to more than just cool fight choreography without the DRAMA. Each set of characters has a shared history, which informs and enriches the conflict. All their skeletons have come out of the closet. Whether it is a friend’s secret resentments or the realization that the very act you mean to avenge is the only reason you were born, it was always our intention that the mental and verbal sparring between the characters would hurt far more than any physical blow.
And finally that brings us to the CLIFFHANGER. Again, this is pretty self-explanatory, but I think it is notable that this page has THREE freaking cliffhangers! We here at Daredevils Central pride ourselves on the fact that pretty much every page ends in a cliffhanger. We feel that with the page-a-week format our readers deserve a juicy mystery, climactic moment, or some other tomfoolery to chew on between updates. Well, now you have three. You’re welcome.
With that in mind, be here NEXT WEEK to experience what could very well be the most GUT-WRENCHING cliffhanger of our entire run! In just 7 days the penultimate page of Pitch Black Day Chapter 4 drops like a BOMB. Make sure to RSS, Like, or Follow. Trust me, you do not want to miss what is coming next.
How does that old adage go? Oh right, “Always leave them wanting more.” So with that, I bid you adieu. As always, make sure to check out the Sunday Bonus Lunch – the blog equivalent of frantic cries for help scrawled onto a mental hospital’s walls.
Anyway, till next week!
-Matt-
P.S If the “Heir of Holmwood” and “Lady Godalming” talk threw you for a loop this week, I highly recommend you read the various and sundry prose chapters, which can easily be accessed via the Archive.
“always leave them wanting more”. you certainly don’t disappoint on that front, keep em coming!
Welcome aboard, Nate.
No worries, plenty more Daredevils adventures to come!
1- Conan didn’t buy that “Thulsa Doom” argument, I doubt the Vixen will.
2- It seems Undead Doc is lacking in his appreciation of proper Submarine decorum, but I still think he is more frightening then Dracula himself.
3- [Cue Romantic Music] So, which one is the “Man” in the relationship?
Great observation!
Doc should scare you. Intelligence with no conscience is a scary thing, indeed.
I hope Lady Godalming uses a Hellboy-style snappy comeback. Something like “You killed my father; your ass is mine!”
[NOTE: While posting this from my Kindle, it asked me to add "ass" to its' dictionary. God bless modern technology. ]
Well…that would not be very lady like of Lady Godalming, would it?
That “Lady” is no lady…and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Hmmm doc’s simmering issues come boiling to the top….makes you wonder what else on the sub drives him nuts.
That that was the most fun part of writing this page…
Figuring out Doc’s number one gripe about serving on the Custer with Joe.
