I love this page. The narration is a blast (for the full effect read it with the 60s Batman TV show in mind), and Danilo’s illustration of The Custer in the center of the page is truly iconic. Not to mention the fantastic portrait of Doc McCarver, and the mysterious first appearance of Captain Custer…
This page, for me, encapsulates everything cool about the Deep Dive Daredevils.
Chapter 2 will run for 10 weeks and I can’t wait to show you guys what we have in store! Next week, you will get a startling glimpse of what Armstrong is becoming, and just how much trouble the Daredevils have stumbled into…RSS it!

I’ve never read Tin Tin (or seen the movie), but it’s so iconic that undoubtedly it was an influence on Joe and Cup. A boy adventurer and his dog will always owe props to Tin Tin and Snowy.
Awesome Comic! I love the old time feel of it. BY the way I’m also thrilled to see that the whaleship is named after my relatives! My 4x great grandfather was George Washington Gardner who commanded the whaleship Globe and discovered the Offshore Ground in the Pacific

I wish I could say that The Gardner was named after George Washington Gardner, but actually the name was kind of pulled out of a hat. But, now the two will forever be connected in my mind.
