Do Yer Duty…
You don’t have to tell us twice, Captain. We’re back to weekly posting for the foreseeable future. And, as we return, the stakes will continue to just get higher and HIGHER as we move closer and CLOSER to the end of Beyond Familiar Shores.
Be here NEXT WEEK for a page that will SURELY have you reaching for a tissue.
Till next time!
-Matt-
Ooof Captain, you look like twenty five miles of hotly contested road in the post apocalypse. I hope this isn’t your ‘witness me!’ moment.
Christopher already said it better than I could…
Shiny and chrome, he is.
Can’t say as I’ve seen worse… but then, he’s still breathing and giving orders…
Does the Captain even breath? I’ve never really thought about that until now. He doesn’t speak through his mouth – he speaks through the intercom.
Way it looks though, that question might be moot rather soon…
I think everyone saw this coming.
Custer is no quitter, but he is no coward either.
How old is he, at this point?
The Civil War started in 1861.
The first Gatto Class sub was built in 1941.
That would easily make him over 100 years old, when he started with the DDD.
Granted dimensional travel, and possible time travel, or suspended animation, could throw the things off a bit, but he has to be ancient.
The answer is, yeah, the dude is old. He’s not quite 100 years old though…
He did fight in the Civil War, but then he got caught up in the interdimensional war with the Giga-Reich…so he’s lived out some of his years in different loops, and the loops don’t have corresponding timelines, so…
All will be revealed eventually.
If you want a real dimensional/temporal headache, it’s clear he was in A American Civil War, but not necessarily the one we know. That dimension might have had a perpetual civil war, or the south might have won. The actual answer hasn’t yet been in the comic if it is ever something that will get answered.
“Dimensional/Temporal Headache” describes my life whenever I am writing DDD.
I think there are subtle connections in the comic that point to an answer to your question…perhaps too subtle…
