DDD DAY
I am in awe of the Allied Forces that took part in the D Day invasion. I am forever a history buff, but this year, especially, I read a lot of the first hand (or as close as it gets) accounts of storming the beaches. Of course, we’ve seen Saving Private Ryan, but as brilliant as it is, I don’t think most of us will ever REALLY understand what it felt like to be there on that day; we’ve had it too easy, and much of that ease, ironically, was bought on the dime of the men who fought that day.
Be here NEXT WEEK for more OLD SCHOOL kickassery.
Till next time!

Well now, they’re on the USS Gato, which appears to be of the same model as the Custer sans some modifications and they’re gonna use the eternite like we used atomic materials at Hiroshima. There appears to be no resistance to their arrival….I’m calling it now, something’s gonna backfire.
Nope. Everything is going to go by the book
Talk about an “Earth-Shattering Kaboom”!
Indeed, this is a plan that Marvin the Martian would very much approve.
USS Gatto.
I like it.
I am (like everyone else I think) just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Yup, you’re the namesake, my friend!
Whow!
I REALLY love this page…!
Me too!
Your illustration and Angela’s colors were so cool that I knew the speech had to be EPIC to do them justice.
Now THAT is how to inspire a crew to fight and die for the cause! Bravo!
I’ve been a history enthusiast since I was a kid, mostly WWII and ancient, Greek and Roman military history, but I can’t claim to be any sort of authority on the subject. When I was fairly young (maybe 10?), my dad introduced me to iconic movies such as The Longest Day, Battle of the Bulge, Midway, The Great Escape, Bridge on the River Kwai, Tora! Tora! Tora!, Von Ryan’s Express, Kelly’s Heroes and Where Eagles Dare, and many more over the years. Saving Private Ryan is a…difficult…movie for me to watch, but I think it’s an important piece of cinematic history that should be recognized for it’s unflinching look at some of the terrors that soldiers faced during the war. D-Day in particular was a monumental undertaking never before seen in history, and probably will never be seen again. It was a marvel of logistics, industry, ingenuity and human courage that should never be forgotten or taken for granted.
Nicely put, Thracecius.
The Longest Day is on of my personal favorites.
