Something about this page makes me wonder, while it’s not surprising the rebels would want to steal the eternite. I get the feeling the success was orchestrated by the reich who is prone to in-fighting just to have a reason to hide the eternite in a new way.

Yes, it is uncomfortable to see Custer doing something so underhanded.
I was wondering how Custer ended up being his own sub captain, but this scene brings up more questions than it could ever hope to answer, so the only thing to do is be patient and wait to see how it develops.
