BUDDA BUDDA BUDDA!
Doc goes RAMBO on the retreating Giga-Reich Troopers, which is pretty much the definition of IRONIC (…paging Alanis Morissette). For those of you with long memories, I’m sure you will remember that at one point Doc stated, and I quote, “I don’t believe in guns.” I think you will all agree that this page constitutes one HELL of a philosophical change for the (formerly) Good Doctor.
Next week we will be posting the FINAL page of Beyond Familiar Shores Phase One – which is a DOOZY, by the way – and following that we will once again be going on….DUN DUN DUN….HIATUS.
Now, I’m sure this will come as disappointing news, but, hey, them’s the breaks, my friends. We’ve brought you over a year of (nearly) uninterrupted pages since the last hiatus, and now it is time to build up our war chest of pages so we can do it all over again in the not too distant future.
And, TRUST ME, what is coming next is worth the wait. Beyond Familiar Shore Phase Two is going to blow your FREAKING socks off! All that you have been speculating about…all the lingering questions…will FINALLY be revealed. Oooooh….it’s gonna be GOOD.
While we are away I encourage you to join the NEWSLETTER (enter your email under the flashing radio tower on the left), which is where you will get periodic updates on our progress and will be alerted when we return.
But, before all the malarkey…BE HERE next week for the FINALE of Beyond Familiar Shores Phase One!
Till next time!
-Matt-
I’m not usually a “kill ‘em all” type, but the Custer’s crew is in a tight spot; it’s literally “kill or be killed” at this point. And how long is the hiatus going to be? First Sister Claire, now you guys…why do all my favorite webcomics have to go on hiatus all at once?
Not sure how long the hiatus is going to be at this point. I can tell you it will be as short as humanly possible because I can guarantee you that we miss posting the pages as much as you miss reading them every week.
Time for Joe to grow up.
…whether he likes it or not.
SGT Rock at the Bulge! They’re all SS or infiltrators on false uniform. Kill ‘em all, let Satan sort them out (8th Circle, 5th Circle, whoh, kamerad: 9th Circle…)
Today’s comic reminds me of “Fury” (2014).
Norman Ellison [repeated line]: Fucking Nazis!
I love me some SGT Rock…definitely an influence.
To make a bad pun, I’ll bet the Giga-Reich did NAZI that coming.
Doc’s new sentiment towards Nazis reminds me of Indiana Jones “Nazis, I hate these guys.” Hellboy had a similar reaction, then hit one so hard he squished him. Doc just needs his own Hand of Doom.
You had me at “Indiana Jones…” just mentioning Indy and our comic in the same breath makes me a happy dude.
Doc: “You can run, but you can’t ‘Heil!’”
I wonder how long Hitler, and the Nazis, will remain the supreme villain archetypes in fiction, before someone else comes along? After all the Romans are still hanging in there in 2nd place after 2,000 years. Poor Napoleon, and Xerxes get no love/hate these days…
Well, Xerxes did get some love in 300, right?
But, yeah, I totally get what you are saying…I think, in our case, it is the fact that we grew up in the 80s on the Indiana Jones movies (third mention in these comments )…
Doc may be a murderous gun-toothing coldblooded killer with re-emerging vampiric tendenses… but I cant fault his reasoning
Hahaha!
Yeah history is replete with worse examples than Hitler including his contemporaries Stalin and Mao. One can argue that Japan topped Germany’s atrocities. Thing is WWII traumatized the whole world and Hitler was the focus. The USSR and China were our allies so people didn’t want to throw stones at them in the aftermath which left Hitler as the fall guy even though he was a piker compared to Stalin’s 40 million fertilizing the fields of Communism and the 80 million slaughtered under Mao’s “Great Leap Forward” collectivization.
Yeah, mass murder starts to lose context after the numbers hit the tens of millions. I don’t know how many POWs the Japanese murdered (I don’t care if they didn’t sign the Geneva Conventions), but if you add them to all of the Chinese they slaughtered before the US declared war, they’re definitely up there, though it’s not really attributed to one leader, unlike Hitler, Stalin and Mao.
I’m with Doc on this one, no mercy for the Gigs. They’re time travelling murders that put the real world Nazis to shame, so I say that extermination is not too harsh a punishment.
Not much to add to this other than to say, you guys know your stuff and it is an honor that you’ve taken your time and used your talents to contribute to our little endeavor.
I shouldn´t say this because I did it… But what a f*** good page !!!
Angela did a great job with the colors, and the lettering is FANTASTIC !
If you don’t toot your own horn every once in a while, who will?
This page is indeed F****** awesome from top to bottom!
Regarding this comic, I recon the Giga Reich troops are a combination of the NAZI Waffen and Totenkopfverbände Schutzstaffel (SS). Screw ‘em, .50 cal. meat shredders are a mercy and too easy for them. FYI during WWII, while our troops would take regular Wehrmacht soldiers as prisoner (mostly) little such grace was given to SS troops unless intel was needed. Great page BTW, love the art and colors.
It seems “kill ‘em all” is the general consensus among posters…Metallica would be proud.
Fiddy-Cal. When you Absolutely positively gotta kill every nazi up in the place….accept no substitutes.
Clearly Joe doesn’t understand the difference between “surrendering” and “retreating to fight another day”.
