Hmmmm…THEY. Such a simple, harmless word, and yet if used in the right context, somehow also so threatening. Who or what are the Daredevils hiding from, and what’s the deal with the mysterious room featured in panel three? The answers to those questions are the basis of a HUGE over-arching Deep Dive Daredevils story that will — and, I’ve probably already said too much. Good things come to those who wait, Daredevilers. All will be revealed eventually…

A clue about the origin of the Custer and Its crew…
Will we ever find out, or will it remain just off the page?
I’m guessing that Joe and Cup are somehow tied to the creation and continued existence of the Custer as a ship of the imagination.
Oh, you’ll definitely find out who “They” are and the origin of the Custer…
However, because of the one page a week format it will take time for it all to unfold. Pull up a comfortable chair, it’s going to be a long (and fun) ride!

Hmm ‘they’ what would a wondrous ship like the Custer and it’s crew ever have to worry for that anyone would speak in such a way? Well if the gauge is any indicator I’m betting they lost a LOT of fuel.
When “They” are revealed you’ll see why Doc and the Captain dare not even speak their name. Big, BIG trouble is on the horizon.

Well, intentionally we’ve left a lot to the imagination, but…
Essentially, yes, you are correct. The vengeful animal spirit was exorcised by Sedna, and Armstrong’s soul was set free.
Armstrong was middle-aged in the 1850s, so it made sense to us for him to go to the after-life with his crew, as his natural lifespan had been long been eclipsed.
