CLANG!
I really like this page. I think it is effective and engaging in a number of ways. However, I think the element that does the most to sell the drama of this particular page is the LETTERS. Those powerful “CLANGs” in panels one, two, and three really sell the fact that Abby is facing the greatest challenge of her life – and remember this is the heroine who, in this very comic, bested Dracula!
And, then, in the last two panels it is the “SLISHHHHH” and “SSSSSSS” that that helps us feel that Abby has just been burned by molten eternite, and not just fallen into a puddle of blue Gatorade.
I tip my hat to you, Ben.
