SLAM!
Did someone mention something about “another shoe” dropping? Well, here ya go!
Actually, and I say this with all candor, this is but one shoe in a series of, what only can be described as EPIC, shoes about to drop in the coming weeks and months.
Speaking of – here’s a cool news alert. John Byrne is currently posting one-page-a-day of a bootleg X-Men story he is calling X-Men: Elsewhen. The pitch is, basically, what if Jean Grey survived the Dark Phoenix Saga and Byrne’s story takes place in the classic continuity directly following those events – like an alternate version of X-Men history!
Anyway, till next time!

Oh now this is quite the curve ball, but why would the admiral want Carver dead? I still suspect collusion, but now I get the feeling there will be a rescue op with volunteers.
McGinty!
My guess is that the allies (or at least a faction of them) blame Doc for the rise of the Gigareich. He is therefore viewed with contempt.
In a way they are correct, because Doc, and his people, did provide the Nazis with the necessary technology to fold space, but they paid the ultimate price for it.
I can’t count Doc out yet, if he is on the train, then his “brother” HAL is still around, and he is not one that should be underestimated ever.
We shall see…
Okay, I may not have predicted that particular outcome, but it strikes me as a highly likely reveal based on a number of reasons, one of which has already been mentioned, that they blame McCarver for the Gigs, but also because it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s seen with suspicion simply by association with the technology & resource that powers the Gigs conquest. Guilt by association is a hard thing to dodge when the stakes are so high, and even if the admiral doesn’t distrust McCarver’s intentions, I doubt he’d ever truly trust him simply because he’s from another dimension. I can’t even begin to imagine the sort of pressure he’s under to lead the actions to ‘Save the World’, but when faced with such overwhelming odds, the cold calculus of leadership often makes sacrifices that normally wouldn’t be considered.
Looking forward to seeing how this shakes out, especially now that we’re seeing some key players show up in the ‘current’ timeline.
