The Giga-Reich vs. The Confederate States of America (Part 2)!
After what happened in Orlando over the weekend, Doc’s thoughts in the last caption have really hit home. I spent the day playing with my young children. They’re too small to understand; for them it’s all blue skies. Unfortunately, there is real evil in this world, and I’m not looking forward to the day when they start asking me what it all means. Because I don’t even know anymore…
Anyhoo, how about them Deep Dive Daredevils? Well, NEXT WEEK we find out something FISHY’s been going on. Will YOU be able to sniff it out? I think not, my friends. I think not…
Till next time!

Something Fishy?
Maybe Doc is really a Fish Headed Deep One, and a follower of Lovecraft’s “Dagon”, and is therefore secretly plotting the return of the Great Old Ones?
Or maybe not…
As for the battle, I think if the Confederates Soldiers could just flank The Giga-Reich they would probably be able to over power them. Otherwise I see, in my mind’s eye, lots of smouldering grey uniforms left on the field…
Pretty much yes. A straight infantry charge in this case for them is nearly suicide.
“Fishy? I cast Summon Bigger Fish!”
Oh, wait, wrong comic.
The energy weapons that the Gigs (yeah, I’m opening that can of puns) are using appear to be semi-automatic instead of automatic or constant beam, so I think it’s likely that the sheer momentum of the charge will quickly overwhelm them (given the apparent proximity of the CSA troops in this spread) and drive them into hand-to-hand combat where the odds are [probably] less stacked against the technologically inferior combatants. There are a number of other factors involved in the outcome, some of which we can’t account for with what we know at this time, but if the CSA troops don’t break, this battle could quickly turn in their favor.
I guess we’ll find out soon enough!
“Into the jaws of Death rode the six hundred…” Seriously, this looks pretty bad for the Confederates. I just hope they have enough people to finish the job.
Of course, the Confederates are probably the local home guard and have the advantage of knowing their battlefield far better than the Giga-Reich.
If Custer’s issues firing the G-R weapon is an indication, they might even have a slow rate of fire, or need to cool down / recharge a capacitor after too many shots in a short period. That might end up playing in the CSA’s favor, but likely to turn it into a stalemate or Pyrrhic victory, where there’s barely anyone left by the time what’s left of the G-R (possibly just Frankenhitler and his escorts) fall back.
This is a reply to all:
Can I just say how much JOY reading your dissections of this battle brings me? Well, it is a lot, a lot, A LOT.
You guys are THE BEST!
To quote someone far more famous than I:
“It’s what I do.”
Bonus points if you get the (semi-obscure) reference, but if no one gets it I’ll be happy to answer.
