The Giga-Reich vs. The Confederate States of America (Part 1)!
Not a DREAM…not a HOAX…not an IMAGINARY story…but REAL! Something you’ll only see in a crazy (and getting crazier by the week) comic like Deep Dive Daredevils.
Well, not really much to say about the page this week. It is what it is, and the full picture won’t be available until NEXT WEEK. So, I think it goes without saying that you NEED to be here in 7 days for the second-half of this SENSATIONAL double-page splash.
In the meantime, I just wanted to alert you to a very cool project by our good friend, Vince Dorse, that is currently funding. You remember Vince, right? He’s the man behind this beautiful Daredevils poster…
Well, his wonderful webcomic, UNTOLD TALES OF BIGFOOT, is coming to print for the first time and we can’t wait to get our hands on a copy!
We adore this comic and think that you will too. Check out Vince’s Kickstarter!
Till next time!

Difficult to decide who to root for: The implements of an inhumane ideology, or the proponents of slavery and white supremacy.
To clarify: My comment was made in jest, and not with any intention to kick off a serious historical-political discussion comparing the (lack of) morality of real and fictional participants of history.
May I humbly suggest that we focus on discussing the merits and demerits of the fictional characters here, and leave in-depth political arguments to other forums where they are more appropriate (or at least more common)?
I’m pretty sure we will get enough fodder from the coming pages.
[BTW, no offense intended to T. Gatto or anyone else who voiced their opinion.]
No offense taken.
I was only trying to point out how it is guilt free to hate fictional enemies, but the real ones always have real lives.
Yeah, the whole point is “who do you root for?”
Great discussion, guys.
My opinion only:
The soldiers of the CSA fought for many reasons, and not all of them fought for the preservation slavery. Many fought for states rights, or duty to ones home town. They often considered the war a Rich Man’s war fought by poor men.
The Union Soldiers were also not all in the fight to end slavery, and Lincoln even feared that by signing the Emancipation Proclamation he would alienate his forces from the cause.
It is therefore difficult to assign a moral value to the troops of the Civil War, based simply on Slavery and White Supremacy alone. I’m not even going to get into the Nazis and other WWII soldiers here.
The Giga-Reich are (at least in my mind) wholly masters of EVIL to the core!
Their list of charges, in addition to the obvious Universal Domination and Sour-Kraut breath, includes such grave Human Rights Violations as routinely kicking puppy dogs for sport, talking (loudly) in the theater, and never ever using their blinkers (even in heavy traffic). They even stoop so low as to drink milk directly from the carton when visiting the homes of others, they never return borrowed tools or books in respectable condition, and even post “Walking Dead” and “Game of Thrones” spoilers on Facebook and Twitter.
I feel a certain respect for CSA soldiers, (however misguided), but the Giga-Reich must die, and the scattered remains be hunted down like dogs lest they return!
Sorry about the Dog Comment Cup, it is just an expression.
I completely agree with everything you said here, right down to the verifiable EVIL that is lack of turn-signal usage.
Oh, and if we’re supposed to be picking sides, all I can say is: The South shall rise again!
Ruff Ruff!
Jus’ in case ya don’t speak Dog, Cup’s sayin’, “No hard feelings, T. Gatto.”
Heh I find the discussions on whom to root for amusing at best. Looking at the scenario, we have perhaps a regiment (800 soldiers + 1 colonel) of Confederate soldiers attacking that appears to be a portion of a platoon of gigareich (we’ve only seen about 12 GR soldiers drawn in any given panel max) with vastly more superior weapons. The confederates are clearly making a head-on Napoleonic style charge with no visible supporting artillery or cavalry which is a common tactic from the time with perceived superior numbers in the open. Also, I can tell it’s a regiment because the markings on the commander’s sleeve in the last page…that is a colonel. But assuming it’s a full strength regiment, and there are at least a standard platoon of Gigareich (we cant see all of either side’s forces) the Minie ball is slow and inaccurate compared to the laser weapons used by the GR. I anticipate the GR will make a high kill ratio against the Confederates unless the CSA has some other asset that has not been revealed. other wise unless the CSA force has a thousand men and we are only seeing the first arriving regiment and they can bury the GR in numbers without any other tactic….the GR is probably going to win. Ugh…never thought I’d say the Reich would win at anything. Either way…it’s a good distraction from some clever pilfering by the doctor.
