Once More…

A boy jumps headlong into the unknown!

It Just Might Work…

Those of your keeping score (i.e. reading the comments, and checking out each page ASAP each week) will know that we have been having some technical difficulties as of late. For those not yet up to speed, here is a comment I made last week transcribed for your convenience…

“This website is now almost 14 years-old, which in technology years is like 1000 years-old. WordPress and Comicpress have now gone the way of the dinosaur. Consequently, we have begun to experience a lot of issues with the back-end of the site, specifically issues getting images to attach to the post. Every week for the last couple months it has been a real struggle. And, unfortunately, no one is riding to the rescue.”

The consequences of this geriatric website is that we have been having problems getting images (i.e. the pages) attached to the posts. It has not been consistent, more glitchy. Sometimes it works like a charm, other times either we will think a page posted correctly when it did not.

At this point in the game (so close to the end), it just doesn’t make sense to migrate this menagerie to a new build. So, we’re gonna ride or die here – hopefully not die.

As we move forward, if there is an issue with a post, just be patient, we’ll provide updates, and rest assured we’ll be working feverishly behind the scene with duct tape and bubble gum trying to keep this baby holding together.

Balderdash!

What a fun word. It’s defined as, “senseless talk or writing; nonsense,” which pretty nicely sums up what we do around here, methinks. This page being a pretty good example, actually. In our defense, we just can’t help it.

The Circle Revolves Yet Again.

Last week, I noted some lamenting over Doc’s fate. And, yes, there’s no doubt big pieces are moving as we close in on the finish line. But, as another comic doctor once said, “Nothing ever really ends.”

A Damn Fine Cup of Coffee!

We finally did it. We FINALLY found a way to sneak in a Twin Peaks reference. The fact that it also involves the world’s greatest beverage is just icing on the cake.

(But, I gotta stop myself from going on a tangent…Mr. Evin Dempsey was very concerned about my “reverse psychology” blog, as he called it, from last week. Gotta keep on the straight and narrow.)

How about those SFX in the last three panels? Ben really outdid himself this week. That last panel was cool before he got a hold of it, but his work really adds to the storytelling. Much obliged, partner.

SHUT UP GENE.

Evin here, filling in for Matt. Matt is out of town or something so
you’re stuck with me. The big news on this page is that we finally
say who that lady is. It’s Doc’s mom, and she’s dishing out some hard
parenting on Gene. You’d better listen to her Doc, Mother knows best!
Also, take a look at all that Eternite! It certainly is a jackpot
for the Reich who went from zero to a whole freakin’ bunch of the
stuff in no time flat. I bet they plan on using it for evil…
As long as we’re taking a look at stuff, Danilo’s art on this page is
great! Angela’s color work really brings the line art to life, those
beams coming off the Eternite give it some needed gravitas. And then
the letters push it up over the top. There’s a LOT of Giga-German
bibble babble, but Ben found a way to snuggle it into the page without
detracting from the art one bit. A tip of the hat to the art team!

Man, that knight flying on a dinosaur is really getting a good lick in on that Stuka, ain’t he? I’m sure there were a few Daredevilers out there who at some point previously in the run thought, “Man, this comic cannot possibly get any weirder.” Welp, looks like the joke’s on you, buster!

(So, does this all make more sense now that you can read the entire spread, or did it actually get more cray cray? Asking for a friend…)
