Persons acting as if Nazis shouldn't be used because they're too much of a cliche are forgetting something - this is the late 1930s (the first story was in 1937, IIRC). Unless you're in a REALLY divergent alternate history (such as Larry Correia's Grimnoir novels), there WILL be Nazis in play.

Using Nazis in a post-WWII setting - that's cliche. Not using them in 1938 - that's called "unrealistic". Of course, these "Naughty Nazis" are obviously not quite normal ones, so who knows where the story will go from here.

"Heil Hitler!"
"Heil Myself."
-"To Be or Not to Be" (1982 Mel Brooks remake - the original Benny/Lombard version was good too, and eerily prescient).

NAZIs do make excellent advisaries in a story... most people will show no/little sympathy towards such a creature... and they do have such predictable tendancies- but it is worth everyone's while to note that Hitler didn't trust the Wehrmacht, the Kriegsmarine or the Luftwaffe a great deal- most active duty military were not allowed membership into the NAZI party unless they were SS.
There were exceptions, of course...

There are more 2nd characters to come... I give the writers a few ideas that came to me while I´m drawing them, then, I leave to the team if they want to develope them or not....like with Deveraux and McGinty.
But, yes, this is one of the 2nd characters I like the most. We sure going to see him again!

For fear of SPOILERS I can’t say much to assuage your fears…

But, I will say this – we did our take on were-beasts in Secret of the Beaufort Sea and Dracula in Pitch Black Day, and I, for one, think that we did some surprising things with those well-worn monster archetypes.

So, hang with us in the coming weeks and see where we take this situation. And, I can say with confidence that if you think you know where this is going, you might want to think again.

The big turret is actually our riff on a railgun. And, yeah, it definitely retracts into the hull. :)

YES, that is the baseball bat guy from Pitch Black Day in the last panel! We didn't ask for him specifically in the script, but that is one of the wonderful things about Danilo - he never draws a throwaway crewman. Once he has created them they show up again and again. It brings so much unspoken continuity to the stories. I, for one, love it!
