"Star Trekkie", yes, but you failed to properly introduce the Redshirts on the "Away Team".

Ok, engaging in what British comedians call "Spot the Stiff," I can venture a guess on who might die - hint: It's not Joe - and even assume that he may be the same person who I guess stole the idol.

I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but if I'm right, his death would amount to redemption, and a proper redshirt's death has to be utterly meaningless.

One might conclude that you are not very good at mindlessly copycat-ing formats and formulas ...

HAHA! As always, Old Sarge, your comments are an adventure all on their own.

But, yeah, this first experience with the fairer sex is liable to put Joe off girls all together.

Thanks Timothy! We're super-excited about the early success of the Kickstarter, but we're also not content to rest on our laurels for the remainder of the campaign.

I totally understand not being able to contribute, but I get the feeling that you are very active in the webcomic community and I hope that we can count on you to share the link to the Kickstarter far and wide with folks who might otherwise be unaware.

As I said in the blog, THIS is the time to spread the word about DDD!

On the page: It is very apropos indeed that you brought up Star Trek because we consider this adventure to be the most "Star Trekie" of the entire run, so far.

Nangdation Joe- talk about sour luck with the ladies!!! All I ever had to worry about was boyfriends, husbands, er... um... hmmm- let us just say a Variety of Discomfort (read initials) and/or ... hmmm- the occasional "OOPS!" (which I have always kept to a minimum...).

... and you didn't even get a kiss?!?
the Old (and highly amused) Sgt.

Great Job DDD!

1- How much do we hafta* donate for Abigail Singer to get her own Fem Fatale Espionage Comic?
2- What about The Prized Mullet, or at least it's ashes, will that ever be a reward?

As for Joe:
How many times do we hafta* * tell you the rule about not talking to masked indigenous girls, on primitive islands, during neo-apocalyptic situations, especially if you are a freelance adventure with a dog sidekick (or are you his sidekick)?

*I am well aware that Hafta aint a word.
    ** Ibid

Congratulations on the Kickstarter. I was slightly concerned about not being affluent enough to kick in myself, and so I'm really happy that you managed without me.

The page: Wow, from flirting with the Sultry Island Maiden (this is a reference to The Flying Cloud) to facing imminent death in One Page? You sure you ain't writin' a slasher movie? All that's missing is him being impaled or dismembered by horticultural equipment ...

But seriously, you are moving into Star Trek (or maybe TNG, I'm not a geek) territory here: The moral conflict of abiding to law and customs and (let others) suffer cruel injustice versus rescuing the innocent by applying improper, illegal and societial-trust destroying means.

Not to forget, the execution of the page is great: The operative word is the last one spoken, which makes for a very effective punch; the last panel is well composed, with the two *tagonists facing each other, the words standing between them; the page layout emphasizes the climactic confrontation by zooming in very strong from the crowd scene; the zoom effect is further enhanced by the size and position of that last panel. Smilton rocks!
