We don't know for sure they're not ALL drinking milk, right?

But yeah, very moving page to lead off with. Interesting to see how thing's will advance from here. -v

Milk, not beer: Man, I wish I had your eye for details.

But with my penchant for comprehensive analysis, it's probably better if I miss the obvious once in a while.

Poor Joe; drinking Milk, when his shipmates drink beer. I guess it is OK to expose a child to danger, cat houses, and even the supernatural, but not beer…

I am quite interested in seeing how he ended up in such a prestigious position of rank, at such a young age.

I keep thinking the story, sub, and crew somehow exist in his imagination made real.

I loved this page before it was popular (or even published)!

This was my once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to establish Indie cred. Thank you very much, blinky radio tower thing. (My suggestions to entice my rather more dawdling crewmates to tune in on that station would include a promise of somewhat risque, but still tasteful pictures of our favorite SIS-X secret agent.)

I have praised your storytelling so many times and in so many words - Don't worry: I can be terse. Once, in flight school, I was laconic.- but in this installment I was smitten by something that I never mentioned before: The composition (layout) of the page is outstanding.

Leading in with the close-up, zoom out to the establishing shot of the big background panel, zoom in a little and sweep over some detailed scenes, and finally zoom to an extreme close-up of Dev's eyes. (Like good moviemakers, you also never run afoul of the 180 degree rule.)

It is particularly great how the the two zooms leading in and out are both of Dev's face, but the first one is vertical, indicating reflection and pensiveness, whereas the second one is flat and wide, thus emanating an apprehensive and tense mood.

Once Upon a Time in the Pacific ...
