The more serious the books get the funnier they get. They seamlessly travel from Slapstick humor, to action adventure, to SciFy/Fantasy, to Romantic Comedy, and back within the same chapter, while still leaving room for Teatime.

Just one notable statistic that proclaims their greatness is that fact that they are one of the most shoplifted series of books ever. This speaks volumes both for the books greatness, and the character of those of us who read them…

Nac Mac Feegle – must admit I had to google it to understand the reference. Never read the Discworld stories before, but now I am definitely interested.

However, McGinty’s penchant for exclaiming “Crivens” is actually a reference to a Scottish comic strip dating from the 1930s called, Oor Wullie. Wullie’s catch phrases include, “Jings”, “Crivens”, “Braw” and “Help ma Boab”. All of which McGinty has uttered at least once throughout the run, but none more often than “Crivens”.

You should know by now, tkg, one Deep Dive Daredevil or another accounts for a whole mess of notable firsts from the 1930s to Present, which were blatantly ignored by the history books.
