Exactly.
Depending on the wound, a vampire can loose one part of the body and keep on walking, like Dr Spett who loose his eye with Doc´s laser in the first chapter… as Abigail´s weapons are made of silver, including the brass knugles used by McGinty, and the arrows of the crossbow, they have a sort of chemical reaction that lead them to mutilation or death. And when they died, yes, they burn to ashes like on Blade film.

Short answer = Evil.

Long answer = I think we’re kind of going with BLADE movie rules for the way the vamps die. In Blade, no matter how a vampire is killed, they burst into flame and their bodies wither away into nothing but piles of ash. It’s a great visual, so we decided to incorporate that into our vampire opus.

Well lets hope they kept some spare weapons somewhere ’cause I get the feeling the vampire hoard isn’t bright enough to do a pat down. Though the first panel does pose a question, just what is it that makes vampire minions burst into flames like that? Gas? Evil? explosive decompression?

Thanks to Lemony Snicket for teaching me the meaning of “Penultimate”

Every time I see her decapitate one of the Vampires I want to sing the Monty Python “Fish Heads” song…

When I saw the carts go past in the previous strips, I thought they were going to steal part of the weapon causing a stalemate or something. Good work!
