The “in story” answer: Yes, you’d think that, but only because that is what Van Helsing lead the world to believe. He lied about the epic chase to Transylvania and the defeat of Dracula. He is a fraud.

The “real life” answer: If Van Helsing had done his job properly then we’d have no story. So, he just didn’t.

Why didn’t they just cut his head off and burn the corpse? You’d think that a “professional” Vampire Hunter like Van Helsing would be a little smarter about these things.

hmm so he vamp’ed a deep sea angler…and it mutated into the fish men we see later on. I don’t know if that’s crazy-evil-brilliant or downright depraved and messed up! That aside I like this page a lot, it’s creepy it fits the character and it answers the question in a way no one could predict. Plus eh, ‘Man In The Box’ also applies AIC FTW!
