You’re absolutely right, Danilo.

I always think of an ellipsis in the grammatical sense. You know the handy “…” in dialogue.

But, I did some research and found that ellipsis has a completely different meaning when you use it in the context of storytelling.

Here’s what I found:

“Another way of involving listeners is to use an elliptical storytelling style which leaves something out of the narrative, requiring them to take part in constructing the meaning…”

And, that’s pretty much exactly what we did with Deveraux. He was bitten and turned into a Vampire off-panel. We left it all to the reader to fill in the blanks.

Oh, no! He has been bitten somewhere between page 8 and this one…(and turned really fast, I must admit… but in literature, comics and movies there´s a thing called ellipsis, right?)
If you look closely, on panel 5 you can see the bite marks in Deveraux neck.

If this is anything like a typical vampire mythos, I find that unlikely. It’s safe to assume that the Custer has been on extended voyages, during which it would have been noticed if Deveraux were snacking on his shipmates rather than eating with them.
