… thought he looked familiar… he skippered the CSS Arkansas, correct? Met him on the docks in Hopewell, Summer of ’62- 1862, that is- I was First Sgt. of the 7th Virginia Cavalry back then, we was taking delivery of… munitions?… must’ve been… from a blockade runner. Seemed a rather … aloof.. fellow back then- but I must admit, Mona was quite the head-turner. Doubtless he was making sure we understood his time was for Mona, not us. Don’t really blame him,
the Old Sgt.
