Thanks, SoftSpot!

We'll have some bonus material available on Christmas and New Year's day, but the next story starts on January 8th. I can definitely promise more adventure, fun, and mystery!

Happy Holidays!

Good story. I enjoyed it from the first frame to the last. Magnificent piece of work, great style!
And it is an open ending... for why was there hope "they" had not noticed that radiation? And who are "they"?
Anyway: this adventure came to a good end, though they really do need a bit of time to get the sub back in "ship-shape" again. (if they can use an electician for helping hand: I'm available :) )
I'm looking forward to coming episodes, whenever they may come!

This makes it quite obvious the boat is no nuke. A boat powered by various combustion engine types and batteries need only worry about damage or spillage from fuel tanks and battery cells, not residual heat from isotope decay. A diesel boat (or Walter turbine, Stirling, or Otto Monopropellant fuel powered long-duration submersible) needs pay no attention to maintaining coolant flow while in drydock - or careened or beached. When any of the nuke boats I was on went into drydock, we had to send divers down to connect hoses to the seawater coolant intakes on one side or the other (or both) plus the auxiliary diesel engine so we could avoid problems with reactor cooling...

You're right on the money, Mr. Hughes.

After the wallop laid on us by the werewhale, we won't be going anywhere for some time, limping or otherwise.

The crew will be pulling double shifts on repair duty for weeks before this bucket is sea-worthy.

Beaching or Careening a vessel.

In this case, what you do when you're 3000 miles from your nearest safe harbor.

Is that an actual method of Dry Docking and fixing a Sub?
I just figured they would have a base somewhere to limp back to.

P.S. Got my print, thanks!

Pride and adoration do not fully describe my feelings for you, my love. Congratulations on the completion of your first Deep Dive Daredevils story! It has been a privilege watching you grow as a creator and writer. Hats off to Dan, Evin, Danilo, and Steven as well! You all are simply amazing.
