Essentially, yes, you are correct. The vengeful animal spirit was exorcised by Sedna, and Armstrong’s soul was set free.

Armstrong was middle-aged in the 1850s, so it made sense to us for him to go to the after-life with his crew, as his natural lifespan had been long been eclipsed.

Hmm ‘they’ what would a wondrous ship like the Custer and it’s crew ever have to worry for that anyone would speak in such a way? Well if the gauge is any indicator I’m betting they lost a LOT of fuel.

Interesting talk you included, about the energy, not to mention the mysterious “They”.
A clue about the origin of the Custer and Its crew…
Will we ever find out, or will it remain just off the page?

I’m guessing that Joe and Cup are somehow tied to the creation and continued existence of the Custer as a ship of the imagination.
