Chalk it up to an artistic choice…the visual of the dogs all fanned-out is much more dynamic than them in line behind one another.

I think Jack London’s description of in-line trace harness for the dog teams, either single line or double line, is more accurate than having each dog on a separate trace fanning out like that… And what did they do to annoy that polar bear?
