Her plot is cut short by one of the protagonists walking to the fireplace and stepping on the smoldering ashes that were making the enchanted smoke, causing two things to happen: the smoke stopped, and the smell of burnt feet quickly counteracted the previous magical effects of the smoke, causing all the protagonists to come fully to their senses... I wonder what's going to happen to cut short "mother dearest's" factually dubious story...
