I give the highest recommendation to any and all of Chris Claremont’s original 17-year run as the writer of Uncanny X-Men.

His work, perhaps more than any other, is massive influence on DDD.

*edit* Black Widow had short hair in the comics AND teamed up with Wolverine? For someone who’s entire exposure to Marvel comics has been the 90′s X-Men cartoon and the MCU movies (well, some of them anyway), that makes my head spin.
