Guilt by association is a hard thing to dodge when the stakes are so high, and even if the admiral doesn't distrust McCarver's intentions, I doubt he'd ever truly trust him simply because he's from another dimension. I can't even begin to imagine the sort of pressure he's under to lead the actions to 'Save the World', but when faced with such overwhelming odds, the cold calculus of leadership often makes sacrifices that normally wouldn't be considered. My guess is that the allies (or at least a faction of them) blame Doc for the rise of the Gigareich. He is therefore viewed with contempt. In a way they are correct, because Doc, and his people, did provide the Nazis with the necessary technology to fold space, but they paid the ultimate price for it. I can't count Doc out yet, if he is on the train, then his "brother" HAL is still around, and he is not one that should be underestimated ever. We shall see... McGinty!
